The Norwegian Sales Organization for Pelagic Fish
Norway has vast fishery resources and is one of the world’s largest seafood-exporting nations, supplying people around the globe with healthy, nutritious seafood.
Norwegian fishery resources are traded through sales organizations, where Norges Sildesalgslag is responsible for the sale of all our pelagic fish species, such as herring, mackerel, blue whiting, capelin, sand eel, Norway pout, sprat, horse mackerel, and several other species.
One of the main tasks of Norges Sildesalgslag is to ensure a balanced and transparent marketplace for both fishers and buyers along the entire coast. Norges Sildesalgslag ensures control and resource accounting on behalf of the Norwegian community, which owns our large fish stocks, in accordance with current legislation.
In addition, Norges Sildesalgslag operates an open marketplace where foreign vessels and buyers also trade their fish. Everything we do is intended to benefit the entire pelagic value chain.
Norges Sildesalgslag is a sales organization structured as a cooperative (SA). We have a board consisting of fishers who are our members, as well as board members from outside the industry.
The role of Norges Sildesalgslag is defined by the purpose set out in the Fish Sales Act and the Cooperative Act, as well as the expectations of fishers, buyers, and authorities regarding the organization’s operations.

Trenger du støtte til et arrangement eller prosjekt?
Hvert år gir vi støtte til ulike arrangement og prosjekter som fremmer bruk av pelagisk fisk. For å kunne vurdere alle søknader samlet, ber vi om at dette søknadsskjemaet benyttes. Det er kun søknader som er sendt via søknadsskjemaet som blir vurdert.
Søknadene gjennomgås for vurdering av styret regelmessig - et par ganger i året.
Andre søknader som ikke behandles av styret eller styrets arbeidsutvalg behandles fortløpende.
Retningslinjer for støtte:
- Norges Sildesalgslag støtter ikke arrangement som ikke fremmer pelagisk fisk.
- Støtte fra NSS skal ikke inngå i driften av arrangementet, men benyttes til innkjøp av råstoff eller lignende.
- Videre skal det framgå av arrangementet at Norges Sildesalgslag er bidragsyter.
- Planer for hvordan dette skal synliggjøres må skisseres i søknaden.
- Søknader må inneholde budsjett og handlingsplan for det gjeldene arrangementet.
- Rapport med dokumentasjon og bilder er en forutsetning for å kunne yte støtte.
